Dr Brian Iddon MP in transparency call for Duchy of Cornwall Accounts

22nd May 2007

Dr Brian Iddon MP has tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the Duchy of Cornwall to make their accounts clearer and more transparent.

Dr Iddon said,

“I think that it is very important, in the interests of transparency and openness that the Duchy of Cornwall make their accounts, which have a capital value of £561.2 million, open to scrutiny. This would bring them into line with other public sector organisations and companies.”

The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate that funds the private, charitable and public activities of the Prince of Wales and his family. In the financial year 2005-6 the Duchy of Cornwall employed over 100 people and had a revenue surplus of £14.1 million.
