Dr Brian Iddon MP to take part in “Make a Difference Day”

26th October 2007

Bolton South East MP, Dr Brian Iddon will spend tomorrow morning as a volunteer in the Barnardo's Shop on Brackley Street as part of this years “Make a Difference Day.”

The annual campaign, organised by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) encourages people to have a taster experience of volunteer work.  It is also an ideal opportunity to meet others in the area and make a real difference to the local community.

This years Make a Difference Day is supporting the work of the Dare to Care, Campaign to End Child Poverty.

Dr Iddon said,

“I am pleased to be able to take part in this years Make a Difference Day by volunteering in the Brackley Street Barnardo's shop. I know how important volunteers are in keeping shops like this going and in turn supporting the work of the charity. I would encourage my constituents to find out more about volunteering and to get involved”

David Booker, Head of Volunteering at Barnardo’s, explains;

“Volunteering in your local Barnardo’s shop is of enormous benefit to the charity.  Income from these shops is vital in maintaining our projects, which offer support to so many families living in poverty in the UK.”
