Dr Brian Iddon MP calls on Pensioners to Claim their Pension Credit Entitlement |
|
29th February 2008 Dr Brian Iddon has called on all pensioners in his constituency to ensure that they are receiving all the money they may be entitled to. Currently around 1.5 million pensioners who could be claiming pension credit to help with things like council tax and day to day costs of living are not doing so. Dr Iddon said: “I am concerned that there may be pensioners in my constituency who are struggling to make ends meet because they are not taking up all their entitlements through pensioner credit. I would therefore encourage all my older constituents, who think they may be entitled, to contact the Pension Service on 0800 991234. Pension Credit “tops up” your standard weekly income and as Pension Credit rates have risen by more than State Retirement Pensions Rates, even if you applied last year and were told your income was too high it is worth contacting the Pensions Service again to ensure you are not missing out.” |
