Dr Brian Iddon MP Praises Bolton Council for their Free Swimming Policy

Bolton South East MP, Brian Iddon used Culture, Media and Sport Question Time this week to praise Bolton Council’s policy of free access to swimming pools for older people and children.

Dr Iddon said,

“Swimming is a really good way to keep fit and healthy and by making access to swimming pools free for children and older people Bolton Council are clearly demonstrating their commitment to encouraging people to become more active. I was pleased to be able to draw the Secretary of States’ attention to this excellent initiative from Bolton Council.”

In reply, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Andy Burnham, added his congratulations to Bolton Council in making sport more accessible to local people.

Bolton Council recently introduced free access to leisure centres for all those over 65 and free access to swimming pools and lessons for children under 16.
