Bolton South East MP Brian Iddon Takes Action to Tackle Impact of Lyndale Foods Ltd Closure |
|
10th July 2008 Dr Brian Iddon has been campaigning in Parliament this week to draw attention to the surprise liquidation of Lyndale Foods which includes Peter Hunts, Hampsons and Sayers. Lyndale Foods went into administration in early June, and as administrators have failed to find a buyer for the company, all staff at the Peter Hunt Bakery in Kearsley were made redundant on Monday 7th July. Dr Iddon said, “This liquidation came as a surprise to many of the Lyndale Foods Group staff and I am deeply saddened to see so many jobs being lost at Peter Hunt’s in my constituency. I am also concerned about the way Lyndale Foods has gone about announcing their closure, and I was pleased to be able to raise my concerns with the Minister in a debate on this subject earlier this week.” The Minister, Pat McFadden MP, from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has agreed to meet with a group of MPs from the North West whose constituents have been affected by the Lyndale Foods liquidation. The meeting will be held on 22nd July. Dr Iddon continued, “By going bust in this way, Lyndale Foods have passed on the liability for all redundancy pay to the Government. I want to ensure that the proper procedures have been followed so that Lyndale Foods are not allowed to wriggle out of their responsibilities to their employees.”
